AST sponsors two large annual Bird Expos and one or two smaller bird marts where club members and other vendors sell birds and bird paraphernalia. An educational booth at these events has knowledgeable club members to help answer questions regarding care, nutrition and behavior, and to distribute printed information.

Some of the proceeds from the Bird Expo are donated each year, as voted on by the AST Board, to various avian research projects around the country. In the past some has also been donated locally to such organizations as the Reid Park Zoo and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum Hummingbird Exhibit, both in Tucson, as well as other local non-profit groups.
